MARTHA JEFFERSON HOSPTIAL
CAMPUS MASTER PLAN
As the lead design consultant to Kahler Slater Architects Inc, Matt Rinka, AIA, designed the Masterplan for this replacement campus for Martha Jefferson Hospital, a major community hospital in Charlottesville, Virginia. Located in the foothills of Thomas Jefferson’s Monticello widely regarded as the birthplace of American architecture, the design had to be sensitive to the high profile nature of the site yet meet the grand expectations of the hospital and the highly educated university community. The Masterplan considers the beautiful yet dramatic natural features of the site, capturing vistas, connecting to the community, and integrating healing outdoor environments, while utilizing the latest models and innovations of hospital planning while maximizing the potential for growth in the future.
